Chansons & Sauvignons: An evening of wine tasting and song
Chansons & Sauvignons recreated an early 20th century private soirée with Mrs Phillippa Peckerton-Smythe playing host. She welcomed all into her luxurious home to explore her husband’s extensive wine cellar with the guidance of her knowledgable butler. Six different wines were sampled that provided challenges for the connoisseur and reassurance for the rookie. They were accompanied by a selection of songs, mélodie and lieder as well as some favourites from the musicals, alongside delectable canapés. The evening definitely educated and amused, whilst taking our audiences wine tasting experience to the next level and all for a great cause…
This performance was in conjunction with Voices Across Time’s Community Outreach initiative which launched in 2016 and aims to bring music projects into local care homes. Using Voices Across Time's speciality in writing historically infused musical productions, the project aims to encourage group participation through music with shared nostalgia being a key device to facilitate this.
